Prozac (Fluoxetune)
Prozac is an anti-depressant that is also sometimes prescribed for obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Fluoxetine, a generic term for Prozac, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by increasing the activity of a chemical called serotonin in the brain.
In a small percentage of cases, Prozac caused its users to become violent and harm themselves or others. A number of lawsuits against Eli Lilly and other manufacturers have been filed.
